Balıkesir is a city in northwestern Turkey. It has coastlines on the Marmara Sea and the Aegean. It is the begening city of Kuvayı Milliye. World famous oilwrestler Kurtdereli Mehmet Pehlivan and hero of the Çanakkale war Seyit Ali Onbaşı were born in Balıkesir.
